Our Mission

puzzleAbout Us
The name Moms Versus Autism represents our quest to fight the condition that holds our children back from achieving their full potential in life. We support our children first and foremost. but we also support the moms and dads that fight for their kids every day. We are a grassroots group of volunteers started by two moms and a dad who wanted to make it easier for other parents to find the information that we had to struggle to find concerning our own children and their diagnosis. Our initial focus is on Center County, PA but we are looking for a few dedicated moms who can share with us and other parents the experiences and resources that they have found for other parts of the U.S.

Do you know your candidate's position on Autism?
There is a great overview of the presidential candidate's positions on the Autism Bulletin but here's a quick overview.

hillaryHillary Clinton has given autism the most attention.  In November, she announced that she would spend $700 million a year on research, teacher training, and support services.

Barack ObamaBarack Obama's health plan includes a section on autism:  “He has been a strong supporter of more than $1 billion (over 5 years) in federal funding for autism research on the root causes and treatments, and he believes that we should increase funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.”

Mike HuckabeeMike Huckabee got a $400 haircut from a New Hampshire barber, with the proceeds going to autism research.  When asked by the barber performing the hair cut (who is the father of an autistic child) how much he would budget for autism research, Huckabee replied, "You know, I don't have a budget figure, David."

?John McCain seems to have no official position on autism funding posted on his site and has made no public statements about it.

We've contacted Huckabee and McCain campaigns to see if they have an official position on autism and we will post their responses when they come in. Would you like to ask McCain and Huckabee if they have a plan for autism funding? Contact them!
